I'm gonna have to swap in another motor here soon and i've never done it before. do you guys have any good advice? the thing that scares me the most is wiring and vaccum lines! damn, there's so many and i don't remember where they all go!

also, are there any special tools needed other than cherry picker?

i think i should just take it to a shop. does anybody know a ballpark figure on how much it would cost for a shop to drop in another engine?

1 last question - is there anything special i need to do to drop a S13 DOHC into an S14?

Strip the s13 ka down to the block/head and put all the s14 parts on it. then you will end up with better cams. Its not that hard to do. It helps to have a friend with a car lift. I took me 4 hours to remove my ka out of my s13 last night. Air tools and electric impacts speed up thing.

I thought the good cams were only in the 91's....no?

nope just some serious mis-information

91-94, excluding a percentage of 94 motors, have 248/240 cams, all of them.

if you are worrying about vacuum lines, just make sure to take them off in such a way its impossible to mix them up. I know that sounds confusing, but a few lines have colored rings on them, so that helps (or you can make some of your own)

since you dont actually remove the wiring harness, you can just tuck it up by your windshield wipers. And when you put it back everything pretty much falls into place.

My first time pulling the motor, by myself took about six hours from start to finish. And about the same to put it back in.

cool, i guess i'm just gonna do it then. do you know if the S13 DOHC engine is compatible with S14 ECU...that's the last thing i'm worried about . i'm thinking they should be, but i'm not positive.

once you put all the s14 parts on the s13 block it will be just the same as what you started out with.

i'm sure you already figured this out, but the S14 one is pretty useless to you, so sell it
