I'm getting a great deal on a 97 KA and wondering what is going to be different when putting it in my 92 coupe. I know the 97's were OBD2 and I was wondering what I would need to do for the wiring since it's going to be different than the s13 KA. I was also wondering if the exhaust manifold from the 97 would bolt up to my 92 exhaust or would I have to use the 97 exhaust. Basically, Im pretty confused about the whole process, one friend says I have nothing to worry about, just take the s13 wiring off my 92 KA and hook it up in place of the 97 wiring on the 97 KA, but another friend of my says it's going to be a lot more difficult than it sounds. Any help on swaping a s14 KA into a s13 would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I already searched and got nothing.

use an s13(91-94) intake/exhaust manifold for your 97 KA. As for the wiring, i have no clue:confused:

I'm doin a 95 ka24de into my 90 s13. I bought three fsm books trying to figure out the wiring myself. Its not simple. Save about three twenty plus shipping and send it to mckinney motorsports have them do the wiring on it. I've had mine a year and still barely any progress without having the right direction. and yes there is a perfect post for this in the forum one guy did my exact swap and he listed all of the answers I had.

some of the things that are diff are:

EGR on the intake and exhaust and wiring

ignition- internal coil vs. external coil

A/C compressor... not for sure if the s13 de compressor will bolt to the s14 de. I know I will have to utilize a s14 compressor and run custom lines

smack your friend that said its gonna be easy thats what all of my friends said.

charlie has a good alternative to swapping the entire 97 de in and thats just use the block and head and bolt all of the engine management up to that.

Ah I missed the 92 part if that's what you are talking about. After reading your link I had SOHC to DOHC in my head. I'm also doing the same swap. <----SMACK!

Im running into some major problems. I found a thread on nico before they redid the forum about the swap, and it covered almost everything, but I can't find it anymore. Can someone please help me? I have the motor in, but there are so many hoses and wires that I have no idea where they go to. Or they dont fit where they should go. Can some give me a write up or have pics of the swap? I really need help, someone help me!!!

just swap everything over from you old engine on to the new block and head. inlucding intake and exhaust mani, distributor, p/s, a/c and alternator. That way you can use your old ECU and don't have to change anything on the harness because all the wiring just plugs right up. Thats what i did, and i haven't had any problems with it.
