help suspension problem!!!! banging or rattling noise driving me crazy

i have KYB AGX 8 way adjustable shocks with Ground control coilovers. lately i have noticed that whenever i hit any type of bump or anything in the road the passenger side rear shock bangs, it sounds like metal on metal contact..the shock still works great as far as absorbing and everthing goes its just this rattling or banging is drivin me crazy do you guys know what it might be or what it could be or how i could stop it??? thanks James

go jack up the car and start grabbing parts and shaking them. obviously, you have a loose part somewhere. you'll find it eventually.

tried it everything was tight its like part of the shock/spring assembly when the shock compresses it makes the sound

is the nut that holds the strut hat on backing off?? or the 3 bolts on top of the hat. i had an issue like this a few years ago, ended up being the two bolts holding the bottom of the strut on loosened up a little.

ill try and see if that might be the problem have to wait till tomorrow though....any more ideas? thanks by the way man

Same thing happened on friends S14 with the AGX's, turned out that we forgot to install a little rubber piece at the top of the strut mount. I would compare the strut thats making noise to the good one and see if there are any pieces missing.

^yep, thats what happened to me. Did u install them urself or professionally, when i did mine I had megan lowering springs with KYB struts but alot of the rubber mounts couldnt fit. I had no choice but to drive it like that and it banged loud and hard....(pervert) haha

I was having a problem like that recently. It turns out the bracket that was holding up the sway bar had loosened and the upper part of the bushing was missing. So yeah, check your sway bar.
