Agreed, hard to imagine the shock tower mounting point having ripped in any way and the car drives...most likely the common totally worn out upper control arm causing excessive movement and camber, and worn tires. Be aware that amount of wear will mean other items are probably also worn excessively, such as tension rods and coil springs (which both can also cause excessive camber/tire wear) which are all very common to our old cars. So a trip to the tire shop for suspension work or if DIY-able, a call to Powertrix or other coilover source for a suspension overhaul seems to be in your very near future.
The most likely parts you will need FYI are new shocks installed with new springs (or if wanting/able to afford an upgraded and simpler system, a one piece coilover system), new upper control arms and tension rods, and rear upper control arms. There may be more depending upon the overall maintenance level of your Z32.
BTW, I see that Charles at Powertrix still has a few sets of group buy-priced coilovers left (Powertrix post in general section)...BEST thing you could do for your Z32, and you also learn a LOT about your suspension talking to Charles, and he will do that I promise. Call him!
Good luck!
