HELP - Steering got tight & I had to turn the car off...

Hi!

I recently purchased a 2007 G35X and am in love with the ca (38,000 miles CPO). This coming from someone who is not what you would consider a "car" person.

However, this morning I was driving to work (35 degree temperature and the car had adequate time to warm up). As I was backing into my parking spot my steering got tougher to maneuver and the following lights came on:

Service Engine Soon - Brake.

I then couldn't do anything with the car. So I turned the car off and then back on and everything was normal again...

Thoughts? Once again, I'm not a "car" person - so this could be a very basic issue (hopefully).

Have you noticed a whining noise while turning the wheel lately?

Did you check the power steering fluid? Any belts squeaking?
