Hi,
Im new to the forum, i recently pulled the trigger on a r33 front ciip (series 2)
Its all complete with the dash and everything but i cant for some reason get power to the interior fuse box. I hooked up a jumper to the engine fusebox where the posi and neg terminals are and i have power there (i checked with a light) but no power gets to the ignition side. There isnt even a click or any kind of power on the inside.

I checked all the fuses and they seem to be ok, since im not familiar with skylines at all i have no idea if im missing a simple ground somewhere. I just wanted to hear it turn over before my 14 day start up warranty goes up. Ill post some pics if that is any help to anyone

thanks again!

if you guessed rb25det NEO then you guessed right! apparently some japanese guy thought it would be a good idea to take a regular plain jane r33 skyline rb25de, and swap in (very very cleanly i might add) a R34 NEO engine. but he didnt stop there, after more looking around, i see similiarities between the four wheel drive NEO and my engine. but my clip is a rwd car!

the guy who sold it to me had noo idea. Im not sure if this is a blessing or a curse, Im not looking forward to the wiring mess im gonna have to deal with. Can anyone confirm my findings?

r33 cars have their battery in the trunk from factory, so you'll have to power the fuse box up at the juntion point.
it may simply be that without the entire chassis harness in tact that the car will not start via the key.

Actually, I've seen a lot of 4 door and n/a R33's with the battery in the front under the hood. All the turbo 2 doors have it in the trunk like you said though.

thats exactly what i was thinking, i figured somewhere there was a ground or power not connected due to the whole car being cut in half. either way i decided to forge on with the swap and already pulled the motor out. that transmission is a BEAST aint it? in addition i was wondering...arent the rb25 oil pans sheet metal? mines cast aluminum from what i can tell...

Take a pic of the oil pan. You might have gotten an AWD Neo out of a Stagea. Pics of the transmission and oil pan plz.

i didnt have a chance to take pictures but the pan is def aluminum. it is super beefy. it also has a hole that goes all the way through (im guessing this is where the front shafts would have gone if it were a AWD pan)
the transmission is super beefy too, i dont know if its just a rb25 5 speed or something else. How do you tell if you have a push type/pull type clutch?

ive heard rumors that this came out of stagea, meaning it has a GTR block? is that true? so what engine is this exactly? how much of it is GTR and how much RB25 ?

another weird thing is according to swap guides the R33 crossmember should bolt right up. Mine is actually 1 inch overall too narrow, where the xmember bolts to the frame. i notched each side half an inch and was able to install the RB. In addition, the engine didnt need to be moved back, it sits pretty damn near perfect as it is.

ill go to the shop and take some good pics tommorow

It's all RB25. They made AWD RB25's (and RB20's, and RB26's.) Sounds for sure like you got a RB25det Neo out of an AWD Stagea. IIRC, almost none of the Stegea's had manual transmission's (maybe a special edition or something.) You probably have that motor with a welded up oil pan, and a stock RB25 transmission, but it's hard to know about the transmission with out pics. People do cut up and weld RB26 transmission's and turn them into RWD. Also, somebody could have put a turbo on a n/a RB25de Neo that was in a Stagea or a R33/34 GT4. No telling with out looking at it and/or pulling the head.

My money is on Stagea RB25det Neo with RB25 rwd transmission. Seems to be the most common swap around here.

After looking at it I think you are right, its the last. An RB25det neo out of a Stagea with a rwd transmission. Does this make the transmission a regular push type?
I took some good pics, ill upload them tonight (still at work)
It def looks like some kind of modified AWD oil pan tho.

as far as what it is, didnt the stagea's in japan utilize the rb26 block due to the beefier casting so that the awd pan could be used? i might be mistaken i cant find where i read this.

Definately an awd neo out of a stagea. Its all rb25 not 26 at all. Even the rb20 had awd but there blocks were the same. Are you interested in selling the brackets on top of the motor that the upper cover goes to? If so shoot me an email at [email protected].
