HELP!!!!Starter Wont Engage Flywheel

I have 93 Nissan pickup 2wheel drive...The truck was as automatic but i change over to a 5 speed....I have change everything and even got a new starter.. But for some reason the stater just wont engage the flywheel.. I use two different flywheels and the same thing...I been working on this a whole week just cant found out whats the problem...So if anybody could help me out I THANKS ALOT...

Need more info. Is the starter bad?

did you get a starter for an auto or manual?

I got a brand new starter from auto zone ....I got it for a manual...I ever tryed the old one that was with the automatic transmission ..

Autozone is your first problem. Can you tell us more about how it doesn't engage the flywheel? Is the solenoid working properly if power is applied? It's a tooth count issue? Is it a fitment issue? Are the teeth just grinding against the flywheel? Need more info. Pics or vid would be great as well.

I got the problem solve today ...The starter I got from autozone wasnt engage far enother to reach the flywheel...I got a used one from the junk yard and the truck fired rite up ...Went to autozone to take the starter back for a refund but they said they couldnt cause the starter was working... So thanks to all that help me...I really Thanks alot..

Thats a bad store. I never had a problem with any of my returns with Autozone.

Yeh, that's a pretty bad Autozone. Time to start looking for a new parts supplier.
