something tells me your friend wired the starter? is this new wiring? the ignition switch doesnt do anything unless the clutch is depressed and it would start the car not spin the starter. check your ground between engine and neg battery post. there is a wire coming directly from battery is that hooked to right place?jinjinweiwei wrote:my starter is spinning by itself without turning the key... my friend says it might be the ignition switch is stuck somewhere causing this...
the starter is new.
thanks thanks
no the wiring is old, but a new starter. I believe the problem is still with the starter. because the sympotom of the car is: has power, starter spining on its own without key in the ignition. so i have disconnected power cable from the battery and called advanced auto parts for another starter (the one i bought has lifetime warranty) my friend is going to come over and put the starter on, he has been a meachainic for many many years, but i dont know why he think its the ignition...vancouverbc wrote:

look up starter in tutorial link in my signature. look at the picture to see wiring.
yeah, probably the starter. the ignition would not cause spinning starter. if the ignition wire was somehow hot it would start the car not just spin the starter motor.jinjinweiwei wrote:
