Throttle Cable, Im using the KA Throttle cable to go to the throttle body, but it doesnt seem to come to the mounting place that the SR has, and if it does its not long enough to go to the throttle body. I searched on this issue but havnet found a good answer on how it should be done. The writeup seems to have missed this. Do i custom modify the cable? do i customize the mount place?bShould i add something.. What to do here?

I had used zipties to hold it in place but last night the Zipties broke and I lost my throttle control.. I was stopped in the middle of the road and luckly some of my 240 buddies stopped to help. I got it working and got home but I need to know what to do about this throttle cable being to short to hook upto the SR throttlebody correctly.

Let's see....I'm using the 89-90 throttle cable w/the bracket from a 91' (the bracket that sits on your intake mani). I basically laid mine over top the valve-cover (as it is short) and I haven't had any issues as of yet.

^ AHHHH you use the bracket from a dual cam?? I have a dual cam throttle cable but the bracket is the stock SR one...

if I get a dual cam bracket my problems will go away?

the 89-90 is longer where you need it to reach the bracket, but the casing is too short so you have to cut over the valve cover.but kenrik has a 91 up throttle cable.i just went through this too.my friend told me too pull up the the gas pedal a lil bit,and it will give you more slack.i tried it but the pedal just didnt feel right.so a week later i swapped in a 89-90 gas pedal and cable.

hm...im really not sure.you could try pullin up on the pedal like i said, but you prolly wont like it,cause the pedal feels too high.who cares if the 89-90 goes over the valve cover.as long as it works.i guess you could use the 91 up and fabricate a bracket to hold the cable.

GRRRRrrrr What do the people who have the clean swaps without that line going over the valve cover do????

I just did all this work to make my swap clean I don't want to make it ugly with a throttle cable.

Yeah you have that choice between the 89-90 cable running over the valve cover or making custom mounting bracket for the 91-94 DOHC cable. Just get some workable sheet metal like aluminum and fabricate a bracket. It's not all that hard, though mine is pretty horrible and needs to be redone. It just needs to extend a little closer to the throttle body since the cable inside does not extend out as far as the SOHC or SR.

wait.....so you did all this work for a clean swap, and you got zipties holdin ur cable on??i would think the 89-90 cable would still look better than that.

i dont know if this has any relevancy, but i just routed the cable behind the motor, and ziptied it alongside the injector harness. works great for 2 years now.

i was at the junkyard today and was looking around to notice the G20 throttle cable is humungous! maybe you can use that?

i had this same problem. If you put the dohc throttle cable where the single cam mounts too on the intake mani, the gas pedal is WAY too high and feels like crap. So i dont have it mounted its just ghetto zip-tied to the braket but works fine. It's not the prettiest thing but it serves its function. Isnt that wuts important. If you want u can get a custom extended bracket made up. But its gotta be that, custom no direct bolt on type of thing. Shouldnt cost too much anyone who works with metal and can use a welder shouldnt have any problems. I'm planning to do this eventually when i'm not soo lazy.

Just use one off a sr20 sentra, or take one of the wiring harness brackets off the firewall and grind down the side of it to the hole, then slide the cable in and adjust it.

my 93 was an auto when i swapped in my sr. i took the bracket off the ka and bolted it on the sr and the cable worked perfectly, routed around the stock location. i had to drill out the bracket holes slightly to make it fit.
