As the title says I just got done with my swap. The car idles at about 2000 rpm and it bogs down really bad when you drive it. I checked the MAF and I am getting power to the plug but when I unplug the stupid thing with the engine running there is no change. This morning I tried to check the ECU for codes but the light does not blink it just stays lit up. Any ideas????Chris

It's acting like your MAF isn't functioning properly. I just recently had mine cranked with the MAF off of it and it did the same thing. I didn't drive it, but it idled really high and I couldn't rev it up properly. Check to see if it's clean, if it is you might want to try another one on it. SOHC MAF's will work.

your ecu light is staying on? alright when you turn the key on and look at that light it should be on and stay on but when you start the engine the light should go off. if the light does not go off while the engine is running then you have a bad ecu.

Im kind of having the same problem he is, when i run it the light blinks a few times then goes solid. If I blip the throttle, it blinks out the same thing then goes solid again.

is it a factory tuned ecu? if so the best place to get one would probably be from enthalpy they sell them for 150 dollars and im sure they will test if its good or not for you...ebay or on here you can find them sometimes for cheaper..i had trouble finding a 62/63 on this site and ebay for cheaper than 150 plus you dont really know if they are good or not

So I called Heavy Throttle today to check on an ecu and was told that the ecu isn't bad, but that I have a boost leak somewhere???? Now I am super confused?????Chris

the symptoms you are having could be many things..it could be a bad maf, tps, 02 sensor, timing, injectors, coilpack, spark plugs, boost leak..there are many tests to confirm which is the culprit..you cannot just simply say its a boost leak..one of these tests is for the ecu by checking the l.e.d. to see if it stays on while the engine is running..if it does the ecu is bad..just my 2 cents..go ahead and check for boost leaks if you wish since it doesnt cost money go ahead and check all of those sensors for the correct voltage with a voltmetere since that doesnt cost a lot of money..but ive learned a lot about these engines and when i was having problems with my sr and did research and found that if the l.e.d. stays on then its bad, i went behind the ecu and checked and sure enough it stayed on and sure enough another ecu solved the problem

Well, the guy I bought the motor from said that he is going to ship me a new one anyway, so hopefully that is right. I don't want you to think that I am underminding you or doubting your knowledge. I was just confused because I called to try and order a new ECU and that was what he told me. If I offended you in any way I apologize. I do not know anything about this kind of stuff, and if it weren't for people like you I would never figure it out.Chris

lol no man you didnt offend me dont worry..im just confused at how heavy throttle could say that its a boost leak just like that..did they even ask you if it was running rich? did you tell them exactly what you told us..about the ecu l.e.d. staying on and all?

Yeah, I told him everything. First he told me that it was the MAFS, but I tried 2 different ones... He said that the l.e.d on the ECU not working right was not reason enough to say that it was bad, and that if it ended up being the ECU that he would send me a free drift knob for my e-brake.Chris

He also told me that the reason that it idles high is due to the fact that I am using the throttle cable from a KA24DE??? I believe I was told to use that by someone on here. Is this wrong???

sorry i dont have any input on the ka throttle cable because ive never heard of that before but im not doubting that its not possible..and besides nobody would have told you to use it if it causes the engine to idle at 2krpm unless they are out of there minds and think thats normal..so sorry i cant say anything about that topic..I still stand behind my word 100% that the ecu is the culprit because when that light is on while the engine is running that ecu is bad and thats enough for me to think its bad but once again thats just my 2cents but either way if its not the ecu which none the less it is i would tell him it was anyways to get that knob

High idle is not due to the cable, assuming it's properly adjusted.

Every swap I've done I've used the dual cam cable. I agree, ECM is the culprit.
