Hi everyone i am in need of some help. so i just picked up a 240 with a red top sr in it for dirt cheap and when i was out cruising around the car lost all coolant and i did not notice till it was to late the car started to knock tick and clack in the top end and i was not in an area where i could pull ove right away. the car started to sputter and i finally found a place to pull over and cut it off and started looking and opene the cap and the radiator was dry. it and now. i got in it and tried to start it to move it over under a light in the parking lot and it wouldnt start. it turns over and tries to start but wont. a buddy of mine said that i could have gotten air in a lifter and or timing chain jumped timing. or i have a set of rocker stoppers to put on it but i wont to make sure i didnt ruin the head. any help would be awesome. thanks alot in advance.

Take the valve cover off and see if any rocker arms jumped off. You can then also re-bleed the lifters - see the FSM for proper procedure. RAS are funny things - sometimes they can do more damage than good. If you never over-rev from missing a shift (personally, I have done it less than 5 times in my life - must not be trying hard enough I guess) I would leave them off.

Other things that might have been damaged: Cams (snapped); head gasket blown; head warped.

Good luck!
