Hi, during the last month or two i ordered a sr20det via "Jdm Engines Corp." anyway just for the fun of it, i went ahead and compression tested the motor before the install. i was very disapointed with the results, It was said to have 160 to 180 psi acrost the board, but thats not what i found.

Cyl 1............................100psiCyl 2............................25psiCyl 3............................75psiCyl 4............................120psi

Wile in denile about what i have just seen i decided to do a wet test. ( i put the same amount of oil into each cylinder but i think i put too much)

Cyl 1............................190psiCyl 2............................75psiCyl 3............................125psiCyl 4............................220psi

in addition to the prior. a leak down test was done on cyl 2 and 3

Cyl 2..............................90% leakCyl 3..............................40% leak

Using a boroscope my mechanic says that he also noticed the presence of small metal particles in cyl 2.

Armed with this info i called jdm motor corp. they told me that they diddnt care about what my mechanic had to say they told me that those results where ok, and once the motor was in the car it would run fine. I diddnt want to take that chance so they then agreed to exchange the motor if i paid for the shiping to texas and back(i live in so cal). Upon arrival, i was told that the motor if fine, and better than all the other jdm mortors they had there. Their results where the following...

Cyl 1............................180psiCyl 2............................150psiCyl 3............................180psiCyl 4............................200psi

They also sent me a video of that test. the wierd thing is that in the video cyl 1 would have went much higher than 180 but they only let it crank over two rotations whare as cyl 2 was cranked over at least seven rotations before it stoped at 150.

I requested another motor but they cused me out and then hung up on me. they think that i am lieing, that i ran the motor and blew it up, but then they tell me that the motor is fine. i dont know what to do next, so I am turning to my budies at nico club to help me figure out what to do.

thanks

I bought a SR motor set off these guys a few years ago. The motor ran strong but that was about it. The tach circuit on the ecu was fried, the mafs they sent me was for a CA motor, and the ignitor was missing. Also The person who owned the motor before obviously raced it cause it had a nismo clutch and the pressure plate was grooved like he had been popping the clutch more than a few. I called them to try and get the ignitor and mafs exchanged. The guy on the phone was an ******* but finally agreed to send me the right stuff. Which I never received! The only reason I didn't raise hell was cause their motor set was about 5 or 6 hundred dollars cheaper than every one else at the time. I would never recommend these guys to anybody. Also their packaging sucked and my oil pan was smashed in from the motor sitting on it! I consider myself lucky because their motor has been running like a champ through all the torture i've put it through the last few years. But I would never risk it again. JDMENGINECORP SUCKS!

Check this video out I found not too long ago

ya, they suck! I want to take them up on the legal issues. But going to court is not quick or cheap. I am just an honest guy who wants to get the motor that he paid for, and not a cheap pos.(btw:i like the comments on that motor in that video, "did u put 91 octain in it" lol.)

thanks for the input, any further advice would be helpful

+1 for filing a dispute. Also, I'm moving this to RWD SR.

Seriously put a rating up in our engine suppliers thread (it's linked in the FAQ sticky) so it can help people steer clear of a$$ like this in the future.

Hi,
this is David from JDm Engines Corp, I am surprised to see all these posts about JDM Engine Corp, how is it that we are not aware of your problems with engines purchased from us, as you know and knew that our warranty is only for engine Head & Block and Transmission's Internals and accessories are not part of the warranty. We always send you an invoice with your shipment and the invoice has all the serial numbers for the Engine ECU MAF & Igniter, instead of talking bad about us and making potential customers turn to other JDM store who are our competitors, it is best if you had followed our Return & Defective Policy which is on our eBay and web site. I am sure some of you are doing this just to make us look bad and every business have Happy & UN-happy customers and we are running a normal, legit business.
Please post your invoice numbers along with serial numbers and if what you say is true, then I will take care of you guys but please do not post wrong statements about our company.

Thank You

David

Nice to see you posting here, but this isn't the only place I've found things posted bad about your company. I guess this is your chance to publicly redeem yourself?
