Help-speeding tickets

I need some advise on this,
I was speeding late night around 4am, probably around 90 on a 55mph zone,
So as I'm driving I see a black ford escape driving pretty fast behind me and almost tailgating me, so I speed up and I see some police lights turn on, I immediately slowed Down and got nervous because I have never been pulled over on the highway so I didn't know what to do, so I slow down and get next to the car to see if he was going to give me directions but he just turned of the lights and speed away. there wasn't any sound, just lights
Could it be the cops giving me a warning? Or can a speeding ticket of some-sort be mailed to my house?
This was in NYC on the BQE for those who know.

What color lights? If it was just blue it could have been a volunteer guy being an A$$ they do it all the time by me. and if it was a cop and you were going to get a ticket he would have pulled you over.

if its a state trooper, they very seldom put their auditory's on. just a lot of lights everywhere. blue and red.

he might have been giving you a warning pass, or been following you and you werent swerving so he didnt care cus you werent drinking and just wanted to get home.

on a side note- i got 4 tickets on the 31rst. not one for speeding. lol... guy was a complete a**. 35% tint in the front, and in NY, it should be 30% (big whoop)but i told him i refused to raise my window for him to use his tint check thing, which he got pissed about, and gave me the ticket for that anyways, front liscense plate was in my dash, not on the front, so he did that, rear plate had a tint over it, so that, and then i had a photocopy of my registration (one in the car, one in my wallet) which apparently is illegal to do? so i got a dual copy of a legal document ticket for that too.

i told the guy thanks for allowing me to fill your quota for the month. he said your welcome. i said jerk. he said what? i said i called you a jerk. he asked why. i said because you're giving me menial tickets for s*** that doesnt matter because if you looked up my information you'd know these are all getting thrown out anyways. I show him my trooper card, and he says make sure to plead guilty to all these and i'll see you on the court date. i said screw that, i'm not pleading guilty to crap that other cops have told me they dont care about. he asks who- i tell him none of ur business, are we done or what- he says yes- i said good. bye.

but ya ur fine- they cant mail u nething unless u were in an ezpass and sped from the first gate to the 2nd and they clocked ur time in the meters. say its 65 and u were doin 90 the entire way- expect a ticket in the mail lol

In the event that you do get pulled over, and he asks you, "Do you know how fast you were going?" The wrong answer is "No." It doesn't matter if you know; it's a strict liability offense - he'll get you on a ticket for speeding just because he caught you speeding.

If you say that you didn't know how fast you were going, he's just got you for reckless driving, on top of the speeding.

This is true. I was once pulled over doing 55 in a 25 on the road I used to live on. When asked how fast I was going I replied, "When I passed you? 55." Let off no ticket, no warning, nothing.

its happened to me several times....

but for future ref... its not the best idea to be doing 90 in a 55 unless your in a group of people doing 90 but still......

second if anyone starts tailing you and they do not look like some sort of sports car you are probably fu#k#d cause its a cop....

The cop might just be speeding and you got in his path I had cops do that to me all the time....one time a cop tailgated me during the night while i went speed limit, I thought it was just an Ahole so i stomped on it because i thought he was gonna hit me...and then woo woo :] Thought I was on drugs because I tried to run

not a good idea, I see people get pulled over all the time... especially in that area.

To the OP, if you were in Brooklyn, it was probably just the Jew Police since it was a ford escort. Highway patrol are only in Crown Vics, Impalas, and Chargers.
