HIs car is 10 years newer, comes with 50 more horsepower at the flywheel stock, and a very close torque figure to your 240. You do however have him with weight. Preludes are fwd beasts, weighing over 2900 pounds. But if he is beating "the tar" out of you, then nothing cheap is gonna help you win.
#1: Find proper shift points#2: Remove all weight from your car that you can afford to lose(all personal items, spare, rear carpeting, seats, seatbelts, windshield sprayer system, floor mats, trunk trim are all things that I've removed). And run your car with only like 2 gallons in it. Thats good for like 70 lbs. Every 17 pounds(appox) that you remove from your car should be good for around 1 horsepower. Start stripping her down. My 93 ka24de is running about 7 secs to 60. Ohh and yeah, tuneups do wonders. I recently seafoamed my car and damn, so much more response.
