Ok guys just bought an s-afc for my ka. I am planning to tune with egt's and a/f readings for now. I'm farmiliar with the whole concept of tuning a/f from my gst. My question to you guys is what is the max egt reading you want to see at the top of your gears in a stock KA? Also where is the best place on the KA to tap the manifold for the thermal coupler(aka egt probe)?

I know the general rule of thumb for safe egt's is around 1600F on most cars. Just need to know about the KA.

sorry guys

That's only a piece of tuning

It gets alot more interesting trust me

Especially when you start playing with vpc's, ggc's and alot of oth er abvreviations that I don't even have a clue about.

Where is Dauntt anyways?

I'm getting part of it, the a/f part (YAY!). But dude! What the heck is egt? If I understood what egt means I might have something more useful to say. We need a sticky for the abbreviations, or something... Daunt!

I doubt anyone will be able to answer your question. Optimal EGT readings vary from engine to engine, and the best way to determine yours is to put it on a dyno and tweak it.

For those of you playing along at home, a VPC is a Vein Pressure Converter. It replaces your MAF. I think HKS makes one.

I've never heard of a GGC.

Ok

It really doesn't matter how lean or rich I am running. Everyone knows obviously the best way to tune is on a dyno. What I want to know is what is considered a safe exhaust gas temp. because everyone knows that at the top of your gears you want to be as lean as posible even though that obviously isn't where the tuning of a KA comes into play. I know it will need to be dyno tuned to get the max performance through the mid and lower part of the gears. I just need to know when things become unsafe for the motor.

Thanks for your reply.:)

Sorry, I had to reply to this. Ichi-go doesn't mean 15. It means one - five. Ju-go is fifteen. The reason that the s15 is called strawberry face is still right though. hehe. :)
