OK... So i get everything done today, start the car and drive it around a lil bit. I have a full 3" o2 housing and downpipe, thats all for exhaust, HKS super mega flow filter, ARC smic, walbro pump, and electric fan. No p/s or a/c. My problem is that my boost is at 10 psi steady, with the wastegate line straight to the compressor nipple. Im wondering if this is possible to trip the ECU into fuel cut.I can rev to redline in gear as long as its low load. As soon as it just starts to pull and get going, it feels like someone stepped on the break pedal, complete cut-out for a split second then its goes until it gets to the same point and repeats the same thing. My boost gauge is reading 10 psi steady until the cut. I checked the timing and adjusted it to 15*. Checked ECU no codes (55). I was wondering what all I can check? I plan on checking the plugs tomorrow, already checked for vac. leaks it pulls 20-22 in hg. at idle, seems to be fine. Any suggestions would be great. thanks -Jake

Boost leak.... won't show up under vac. Used to happen all the time on my Eclipse. Mine ended up being a hole in the intercooler core.

On the intercooler core where the hard pipes go ( that run into the engine bay) there are no gaskets or anything? im wondering if there needs to be anything between the mating surfaces? could I just use some black rtv or something? Or should I buy some paper gasket maker and make a gasket then appl sealant? hmm. Ill try that tomorrow. THanks c-rad. Other then this tho the motor is in great shape. oil pressure is still pretty high ( hot idle=35 psi, close to redline = around 85-95ish psi)

Checked for leaks and tightened down all the clamps, Still does it. Also misses a little at idle. I pulled the plugs and they are BLACK as can be. See the first few times that I started it and the first few runs where all down with the ECU throwing code 43(knock sensor) which is why I think the plugs fouled. So im hoping that new plugs will do the trick. We will see. Any other ideas are welcome. thanks

long post so get ready, I think I found my problem, Ok so when i intially started and ran my car my injector plugs were wrong 2 of them, and my knock senor wasn't hooked up. So I was dumping all kinds of fuel (at the wrong time) and pulling timing like crazy ( base timing was set at 10* btdc, now its 15 *) because the knock sensor was tripping the ecu. I also have the wastegate referencing from the comp. nipple. The boost was steady at only 5-6 psi. SO I hooked up the knock sensor put new plugs in, and cleared the codes. Went out for a drive. when I got into second I can take it to high rpm with low to mid throttle. Boost is 10-11psi. But when ever RPM climb to around 5k it just cuts out completely. No hesitation, no stumble, just a hard cut. Im wondering if a 3in. 02 housing and 3in. downpipe, no cat or muffler, it stops at the flange on the downpipe. Will this along with no fan clutch, no p/s, and no a/c plus the exhaust and HKS air filter, with the 10-11 psi on stock ca turbo with ARC smic., be enough to trip the fuel or boost cut,? replies tonight would be wonderful. Thanks -Jake

ex's 180 doesn't cut till well past that. This begs the question. Where the hell does the computer reference boost to initiate the cut? I have messed with CAs for years and never thought to ask the question. It sound like classic boost cut, find where the computer is getting it's signal and measure boost at that point and see if it is still showing 10psi.

There was a similar thread about this a couple of months ago, maybe more.

Rexhunta said something about he has mods similar to that and has no boost cut. Lemmie see if I can source the thread for ya...

Yeah, i'm running GTR Injectors, FMIC, Walbro Pump, SAFC, Pod, full 3 inch with HKS Dump. I'm sitting on 12 psi, and i have no problemos at all.. Maybe it's the tune or something ? i think it's prolly a boost leak..

PS i fixed my leak, not sure how, but my idle is so sweet and smooth now.. love it.

Pete
