Just to clarify Jeff's statement so he doesn't receive a ton more of phone calls...this is what I got from my conversation with him.

Second mark from the LEFT = ZERO degrees = TDC OR 180 degrees off TDCSecond mark from the RIGHT = 15 degrees BTDC

CAM LOBE position at 10 and 2 o'clock for piston 1 confirms you are at Top Dead Center and not 180 degrees off. DO NOT RELY SOLEY ON THE BLACK LINKS **Think about it...end of compression stroke means your valves are completely shut....lobes at 10 and 2.

Use ZERO (second from the left) at TDC to install CAS, set final timing to 15 (second from the right) BTDC with timing light. If you find it impossible to set to the correct 15 BTDC but are super close...you will have to redo the CAS install as you have missed it by one tooth.

I am in no way taking credit for this information. It is just a clarification of a statement made by Jeff.

Thanks guys. Hopefully this thread will help others in the future and avoid repeated questions.

I haven't been able to mess with the car during the last few days but I plan on picking up a fuel pressure gauge to make sure this isn't a fuel issue. I'm wondering if I'm gettong too much fuel. I've reset the timing a million times and am 99.99% sure I've done it right at least once.

I know this isn't my forum so to speak. But are you still getting your cas code? If so have you tried fixing the wiring? also have you swapped yours onto a running SR to make sure the one you have is good? If so and the wiring checks out good, you could have burnt the ecu curcuit for the cas.

Sorry I forgot to mention this.. yes the CAS code is gone. I unplugged the batt for a few hours and when I hooked everything back up the code 11 was gone. I even swapped ecu's when I had the code and it didn't go away. It seems to be gone now.

Something I was wondering was that is the CAS was way off would it throw a code?

This was a brand new wiring harness I used. I don't have another SR to test it with but I plan on pulling it out and looking it over just in case. The wiring is not very difficult but I could have ****ed something up. Although everything seems to work aside from the car not starting. Fuel, Compression, Spark, etc

No problem bro. Sorry I haven't called back. I've been so busy this past week or so that I haven't even touched the car. School is starting soon and my free time is slowly fading. Hopefully I'll get her running soon but she is in the garage for the time being.

i'd try checking your grounds as well, i've seen a few cars not start cause of that.

other then that, i'd make sure that when your trying to set the timing make sure that your actually at tdc not bdc. everything else looks good.

also, your valve train is really not that bad so i wouldn't be uber concerned about that. just make sure to clean it out and run some nice oil when it gets fired up.

we did set it at TDC as indicated in the pics above. The cams are pointing away from eachother and we could feel air comming out of cyl #1 on its compression stroke. This is not being done by total noobs here.... He knows whats going on.

As I mentioned to ya before, double check your ground.. hell even add a couple just to be safe.

ironically i have the same problem i cant get the car to start. i found out that i now have fuel in my oil. flooded the motor so now i have drained the oil and am waiting for her to dry out. when i find out what the problem is ill give you a call. ive done some checks and it doesnt seem like my ignition timing is right. spark and fuel arnt matching up on the compresion stroke and i know im not 180* off so ill keep playing with her and finally get to the bottom of all this. ill let you know. ryan
