Help!!! Running brake lights not working.

Okay, so a couple of days ago, I got in my car and the interior accent lighting was not working. The gauges were working and thats it. I thought it was my dimmer but that was up all the way. I figured i'd take it to the shop sometime this week, just a fuse. Wrong. The next day i get pulled over for not having running brake lights. When i hit the brake it works but the running lights are not working. I checked all the fuses and everything checks out. I took it to 3 different shops, each with the same disappointing result. Please help guys. You guys are better than any shop.

I had a 84 200SX that had this same problem and I got pulled over for no running lights. The headlights and brake lights would work when the headlights were turned on. It turned out to be a broken or pinched wire in the headlight switch. The entire housing for the turn signal stalk and the wiper stalk which included the cruise functions had to be replaced. It was over $200 25 years ago. Hope this helps.
