i took my 89 silvia ca18det into the bodyshop the other day to get some minor work done on the boot where the spoiler was and it ran fine when i droped it off. when i picked it up a few days later i was driving home and when i would give it gas it would just sputter and stay around 3ooorpm with no increase in speed. it wouldnt always do this but when it would the whole car would vibrate and you could hear it like a real fast put put put instead of the vroom it had before. when i opened the hood when i got home the engine was clean real clean and a friend said if they washed it with a pressure washer they could have gotten water under the plug cover and when we took the plug cover off it seemed moist and you could see some standing water in there. do you think this is the problem and if so what can i do about it. my friend said the water will evaporate in a few days i just have to wait is there anything i can do to speed up the process. and now the little light by the fuel light (looks like two lines one on top of the other in the middle they move away from each other then on top 4 lines comeing straight off the top. i have only had this car for a week and ive never seen a light like that.) comes on occaisionally when im driving. what does that light mean. im scared to drive incase im just making the problem worse.

The water is almost certainly the cause of your problems. Just blow it out with compressed air.

I am unable to figure out your description of the dash light, but I'm sure somebody else will very easily and then I'll feel like a dumbass.
