HELP!! Rough Idle/ Trouble Starting

I have a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder with 99,500 miles. In the past couple of weeks I have all of a sudden encountered my car having a rough idle and a sort of "chugging" feeling. A few days later I had trouble getting it to start, it would click however It took a few tries before it finally turned over. I had a short in my battery terminal a couple of months back and it caused a similar problem when trying to start but have since not had trouble until this started.

Anyway, when I took it to AutoZone the following day just to see if they could find anything. They ran the test (came up that everything is fine) though my alternator was putting out about 13.6 volts and is supposed to be at 14. I am not sure how that would cause a rough Idle ( I have a feeling It is bigger than just the alternator.)

if you have any answers, suggestions, or anything help me out.

I had a '95 with the same symptoms. It turned out to be a combination of things: clogged air inlet filter, fuel filter needed changing. That was the problem with the idling and lack of power, and not "running" smoothly.

As to your electrical problem, on mine it turned out to be a shot solenoid. Periodic, so sometimes it would start, sometimes not.
