I am having problems with my notrous kit my car is not burning all the fuel and nitrous so I was going to try to retard my timing to see if that helped

Completely off topic but why did you go nitrous??? No offense or anythiung but thats kind of lame. Anyways about retarding your timing get some adjustable cam gears.

seems to me like you'd want to advance the timing to make it burn the fuel and air quicker?..

yeah, retarding your timing will definitely not burn more fuel. if your spark occurs later in the piston's travel, it has less time to burn the fuel and less will be burned before it exits the engine. I don't know a lot about NOS but normal solutions would be either lower the octane gas you're using (octane rating is simply how slowly it burns) or advance the timing. maybe you should work on tuning the system a little more - you might just be using too much no2.

I believe he's trying to retard the ignition timing, not cam timing. That's two different things.

That would be true if the car really is not burning all the fuel. However, I doubt that's a problem.

I would think he is detonating. There is no reason the car wouldn't burn all the fuel while using N20. Since using N20 is just like adding more air to the combustion, your air:fuel ratio is higher if you are using the same amount of fuel. This would make your car run lean under the use of N20. If it doen't feel like it's working right, it's probably because it is detonating.

So to redrocket, how do you know it's not burning all the fuel? Spark plugs wet? Are they fouled?

Normally you would want to retard the timing so that it takes longer to burn the fuel mixture so that you do not detonate. But if you are running rich (not burning all the fuel, like you said) then you want to advance the timing.

the car runs rich all the time it is very rare when the car is not rich at full throttle and when spraying seeing I have a wet kit it just adds more fuel into the system I was spraying and it witrh the normal fuel shot recommended by NX Express and the car would start to stuter almost like it was getting too much fuel please help I know I am not burning all the nitrous because my best time spraying a 75 shot on my car is a 16.1 I should be hitting 15/14's with that kind of setup

If you are only running 16's with a 75 shot then there is probably something more wrong than just your timing. I don't even know where to begin to tell you to look, but I don't think timing will fix that. It may be one problem, but one of many. Sorry I can't be of more help
