That would be true if the car really is not burning all the fuel. However, I doubt that's a problem.
I would think he is detonating. There is no reason the car wouldn't burn all the fuel while using N20. Since using N20 is just like adding more air to the combustion, your air:fuel ratio is higher if you are using the same amount of fuel. This would make your car run lean under the use of N20. If it doen't feel like it's working right, it's probably because it is detonating.
So to redrocket, how do you know it's not burning all the fuel? Spark plugs wet? Are they fouled?
Normally you would want to retard the timing so that it takes longer to burn the fuel mixture so that you do not detonate. But if you are running rich (not burning all the fuel, like you said) then you want to advance the timing.
