I went to get the car aligned and my guy said that he couldn't adjust the pax side OTRE. I bought one from Joe and noticed that the two aren't completely alike. (it doesn't look to me like there is a locknut on the old ones)

I was curious as to whether the ones currently on the car are a different OEM or aftermarket. There is some text surrounding the grease seal on the old ones.

I have maint records for all but a few thousand miles - I'm curious if someone smacked the front or something......

Lock nut stays on the rod itself, not the end. Just replaced mine with parts from Joe. No sweat.

Bingo!

Really recommend you have a shop with a laser Hunter alignment do it as you cannot come close no matter how careful you are. Just driving it to a shop may cost you a few hundred miles of wear.

I agree with oldmako. I just replaced mine in November and messed with them again a few weeks ago. Looking at your pictures I'd say you got the right part.

thanks. I figured I would mark where the old ones were and fit the new ones to that line. The alignment shop is about 3/4 mi away @25mph so I'm not too worried about wear...

You'll be fine but also you will be surprised how off you will be.

Really simple repair, just loosen the jam nut, take off the castle nut on the ball joint and then turn the actual rod end with a wrench and it should come right off. I did this and basically use the jam nut to make note of where my old tie rod was for reference. Just make sure everything is nice and tight and get it to an alignment shop, you won't do much harm if any in 25 miles lol.
