My first post, but a frequent to the forums! You guys have helped me replace my MAF, IAC, idle relearn, clean my throttle plate, and much more in my 2001 I30t.

I am looking to replace my Heated Oxygen Sensor 1, Bank 2 due to a P0153 code. I purchased a new Bosch sensor as well as an O2 sensor socket (22mm) and was all set to go this afternoon when I got stuck. Of all things, the harness connector between the O2 sensor and the wiring back to the ECM that sits right in front, behind the radiator, won't detach.

Can someone help me with how these two connectors disconnect from each other? The wiring harness connector that plugs into the O2 sensor seems to have some kind of tension spring release mechanism. But whether i try to push down on that and pull the connectors apart, or wiggle a flathead in there, I cant get them apart.

I'm assuming I'm just missing something obvious because all of the posts here regarding O2 sensor replacement just seem to gloss over this. Any help is appreciated!

I had trouble with this too on my Pathfinder. If I recall correctly, pushing in the button/clip thing then attempting to separate the halves was successful.

Check EL-6 of the FSM for the different connector types and instructions on their removal.

I put in a new O2 sensor like yours-I just wrapped up the old one with electrical tape
and left it hanging in the engine because it was too hard to chase the wire to get it out. :gapteeth:

Trying spraying electrical contact cleaner down into the connector and "work" the connector
responsibly with your hand. It will probably work loose :rotflmao

I also put antisieze on the sensor thread and put silicon dielectric compound inside the
connector in case more work was needed there

Thanks for all of your input - and the quick replies!!!

The key was the section of the FSM detailing the connectors - EL-7. Once I had confidence that I just had to put pressure on the tension spring....the connector popped right off! No more than 10 minutes later and I had the old O2 sensor out and the new one in.

Thanks for all your help!
