not possible unless you have a custom adjustable cam gear made for you. All RB aftermarket cam gears use a 4 bolt pattern like on the exhaust cam. The factory intake came uses a larger single bolt. Besides theres no point in removing vtc unless your going with much more aggressive cams...

Well im going to regring my stock cams to 256 with 8.8mm lift because is cheap than buying bigger cams and someone that i know did it in his RB25 here in P.R and made 800WHP and had no problems but has the same problem that I'm having finding someone that makes IN cam gear for it.

the stock cam gear can be modified so that it becomes adjustable if that is what you're after...else run a set of rb20 cams and cam gear to kill off vtc completely, dont forget to disconnect the vtc solenoid.

I believe greddy makes an adjustable gear for the intake side and it still retains vtc

Why do you want to get rid of the VTC?

Greddy makes an adjustable cam gear for the intake cam, but you need the OEM cam gear to modify and bolt the Greddy cam gear to. The only reason I would recommend buying this is to degree an aftermarket intake cam. Otherwise, don't bother with it because you probably won't see gains over the stock VTC.

if you do a regrind aren't you going to have to reshim for proper valve lash? by the time you do that aren't you at the cost in time and money as new cams would run?

*edit.....nm...i was thinking rb26 for some reason, not 25

thats a pretty trick piece of kit, leave it up to greddy to come up with something like that...
most people modify the stock gear to be adjustable and nissan actually degrees the vtc cams from factory if you look at the stock gear.

Well im sorry if i don't have much info on that car all i know is that the engine was rebuild thats all. I know the guy from a carshow thats all i don't know if he was telling the true or not but I saw the car personally and it look like serious money was put in to it.

And the reason that i want to eliminate the cvt is because im not using it I have a microtech computer and it doesn't have the sistem to controlle it and plus i want to put some tomei poncams later on.

It would be a pain but would be worth trying to keep if you can. It would need an rpm-based switch to turn-off/close the solenoid at the head.

CarlH, I'm curious to see how my HKS cams degree out. I have heard internet rumors that they aren't even close to being degreed out of the box. I finally picked up a degree wheel and piston stop today. Now if I could only find the time to play around with the engine...

like darius said the rb25 vtc is not a cvt system...it is just a solenoid that is turned on at 1k rpm and turned off at 4500 rpm...the microtec should have an output to drive it.
pon cams retain vtc, however the pro cams do not.

darius - yeah man, degree them and see what you find, im willing to bet you'll find quite a bit of power from setting them up right.
