Well i took of the intake tubes and such and finally loosened the bolts for the throtle body. Couple questions i have before removing it..

1. Should i disconect any other lines attached to it before hand? I read somewhere back that the water cooling lines shouldnt be bypassed or else it will have to be cleaned frequently. something in which how heating the TB improves it by melting away the gunk.

2. do i need to purchase a new gasket for it? if so how much does it run for?

3. whats the best way to clean it, leave it on and spray carb cleaner or take it off altogether. Im thinking removing it is best because loose particles might flow into the engine and do serious damage there. im looking for the safest most effective way.

thanx.

i would say leave it on, and spray carb cleaner in it and whipe it out as much as you can with a rag. If you completely remove it you can clean it better, but it's also much more of a hassle. I completely removed mine to clean it though. Took about 30 minutes including re-assembly to do it.

I dunno anything about melting away gunk. If you make a practice of driving in temps below 50F you should leave the coolant lines attached.

the coolant lines are to prevent icing as well as improve mixture burn by slightly heating air entering the chamber.
