Help removing automatic stick shift knob

Hi

Posted this in wrong place before.

Anyway I cracked the plastic covering showing the markings telling you what gear you are in. I would like to repair. Also replace the bulb to back light the selection markers. I think the old bulb is inside the housing.

I believe the only way to get at this is to slide it up and off the stick shift. The problem is I am not sure how to take off the knob. Obviously its connected up to the overdrive switch so I dont want to just pull it off without advice.

I would appreciate any advice.
