I was replacing the right side wheel bearing, LCA and Outer & Inner Tie Rod on my wife's I35 and I crossthreaded the 2 bolts on the back of the LCA for the Compression Bushing. I fixed the bolts but the holes are dinged up for the 1st 3 threads or so. I think I can fix it with my tap but I can't really see to align the tap under the car.
I tried to chase the threads but they are too screwed up. I was thinking if I could get the suspension member (has the cross threaded bolt holes in it) off the car I could probably have a lot better chance of success using a tap or Time Sert if necessary.
I checked the manual and It looks like it is just 4 bolts on the member and removing the bolts holding the LCA. I can't tell if the steering rack is attached but it looks is. Searched all over and haven't found much.
Right side is not connected to LCA and I could easily disconnect the left side. Then just remove the 4 bolts holding it to the car I think.
Has anyone done this and can you give me a quick how to get it out of the car. Right now my wife is not too happy because she loves the car and I do too. Help!
