well.. i bought my car with the sr redtop swap installed already.. anyway.. the douche i bought the car said the ac was blowing ice cold and he decided to remove the ac belt.. so i check the ac system and it seems that everything is connected.. (but what is this weird metal canister that is attached to my compressor? i tried to wiggle it and it is pressurized and hissed when moved).. hoping for the best i tried to install a belt (as impossible as it was to take off the powersteering belt with that canister right below it).. and when i put on the ac belt and started the car and ac the center wheel on the compressor did not spin.. so im confused.. i know wiring from a red top to a s14 is tricky.. please some one help.. vegas is a hot place..

here are pics.. first is of the lines that are connected to the condenser and the compressor.. the second is the strange metal canister below my ps pump and above my compressor..

if you move that line and it hisses that means its not tighted all the way. Tighten the bolt that holds it. And that line in your 2nd picture is just the low pressure line...hence the L on that cap.

That cannister is supposed to run parallel to the chassis frame, it looks like it was pushed up and into that postion.

Isnt that canister thing a "muffler". I took an AC class a while ago and from what I remember I thought it was installed in one of the A/C lines to quiet things down. I dunno maybe not

If the system is low on freon the cluch will not engage.

I dont really know how S14s are setup, nor how SR20s are. However, I used to work in the HVAC field, and if that is the receiver-dryer then it needs to be replaced any time there is a leak in the system (if you disagree with me, and think you know what you are talking about, please reply ). If the receiver-dryer is a JDM part you may be out of luck.

Isnt the clutch magnetically engaged with the switch. Thats how I remember them from class. Because when the system is low and people are complaining about their ac being on but its not as cold because there is a leak somewhere. Just a thought.

Wrong, the system needs the proper pressure to engage. This some what of a protection safeguard to keep the compressor from getting damaged when running while low in refrigerant. Check all connections, make sure compressor works, and make sure there is enough refrigerant in the system. If you get a green light on your A/C button, then you have enough...
