uh, no crankshaft. maybe you should know some things about engines before you go buy a rebuild kit.

maybe you need to know a few things.

you don't need a new crankshaft to rebuild an engine.

Yes, new rod bearings, crank bearings, timing kit, oil pump, front and rear main seals, complete gasket kit (has all gaskets for intake manifold and even 4 new injector O rings). I'm letting the machine shop install the freeze plugs (expansion plugs). You might think about a water pump, since its not included.

I believe they offer over bore pistons as well, so you could bring your block and new pistons to a reputable machine shop and they can bore the block and hone each cylinder for each piston. Talk about taking your motor back to 0 miles, that would definately do it!

Now if you wanted higher compression pistons, they can order them from JE, you just need some measurements. They can get them for $130 ea, where JE wants $150 ea. But there is a 4 week wait time for the custom pistons. Which is what i'm currently doing....waiting.

if youre doing the rebuild to save money, it sounds like false economy to me. If you dont have all the tools or knowledge to do it properly it ends up costing you a lot of money and time. However, if you are doing it for fun and to learn something, go for it. Though I have a good grasp of engine rebuilds, I would still have someone else build my engine, because they can do it cheaper than I could. After all the specialty tools it takes to do it right, not to mention the price of your time, you might end up paying way more than a quality professional rebuild would cost you. Once again, if you are doing it for fun and to learn somethin, go right ahead.
