Hey guys! I'm having some issues with tuning. I have a series 2 rb25. I recently added a z32 maf sensor and a safc 2. I have 550cc injectors. I have to have a seperate tune for when I start my car and the engine is cold and then another tune for when my engine is warm. If I were to start the motor on the tune for when its warm it will run very lean. And if I were to keep it on the cold tune when the motor is warm it will run very rich. Have you guys hear of this or know how to fix it?

Since the SAFC is just a piggyback, the ECU and IACV should still function normally. Meaning the ECU will want to run rich on start-ups until the engine is at operating temperature.

Have you adjusted your DECEL AIR settings? These are adjusted when the engine is cold. When not set correctly, they cause a rough idle when cold.

BTW, I edited your title to make it more search engine friendly.

Ahhhh! I haven't adjusted that! Maybe that's my problem! Thanks for the pointer and title change. I will have to figure out what that should be set at.

Hopefully setting up the Decel Air will get everything sorted for you. I haven't messed with a SAFC since 03, so it's been awhile. From memory I set my throttle to 1%, NE1 = 4, NE2 = 5. Then I turned my NE1 down as low as I could go without effecting the idle.

This all has to be done on the first start of the day with the engine cold. The initial Decel Air setting are entered with the key on and the motor off.

This was a KAT with 440cc injectors, but the process should be the same.

It would definitely make sence if it is my issue. I was reading the safc instruction manual. And it said for decel air to set ne1 at 1000 rpms and ne2 ay 1600 rpms. Moniter the throttle position and air flow at both rpms and after that enter my reading into the decel air. I really do hope your right. Last year I ran it with two seperate tunes because I just thought that's how it was. Then I found out that it should not be doing that

I'd just make it idle rich rather then run 2 tunes.

Right that's basically what I did. I didn't drive it till the motor was warm

Next question, when I am cruising along and then let off the throttle it leans all the way out. How do I keep it around 15 af ratio when I am fully off the throttle after.accelerating?

It's supposed to "lean all the way out" when you let off the throttle.
