Ok the other day i was getting everything wrapped up on my rb20 swap and i hook up the battery and test the wipers and they are working. I forgot to put a bigger fusible link in the fuse box and i left the 100a in there and after being hooked up for a while it blew. I replaced it with another 100a and it blew as well before i realized it was the quest alternator and the 100a fusible link couldnt compensate for the extra voltage. I swapped the rb20 alternator back in and hooked up the battery and tried the wipers again and nothing. I also tried hooking up the aftermarket gauges and afc that i have and they also arent working. I havent changed anything on the wiring except the wipers and thats it. Should i reset the ecu or what? This is my daily so i need help asap! thanks for any and all help i can get. Also i had the gauges hooked up with the same motor and wiring in my other car and they worked fine.

somethings shorting out. i would check all the wiring close to the area you were working in. it could be unrelated though, but there is a short

well thats what i thought but i checked all the wiring and there is nothing shorting out. I didnt check all the wiring going to the ecu but it was all wrapped up when i put it in the car. What fuse would cause my gauges and afc not to work? Also carl H, when i hooked up to the hot post with my quest alternator it would just spark and make a crackling noise but when i put the rb20 alternator on it works fine

I wasnt working with the battery still connected when changing them out. I just hooked it to it after the fact and it would spark. I hooked up the main power wire to the fusebox and i hooked the ground to the body and plugged it in with the plug that was on the harness. Also i dont know if this matters but there is a red light that stays on when i turn the key

if the ecu stays on then the wiring for the engine --> car is wrong.not sure how you're powering the neo and profec but if you're powering them thru the ecu then you need to check your wiring and power routing there.

I agree cause frying your ecu would be bad.

Well i have no idea how the wiring could be wrong because it was wired in my previous car and it worked just fine. The car stayed on with the keys taken out for just a little while and then everything worked fine. The gauges and profec and afc were hooked up before in the other car and they worked flawlessly and i hook them up in my new car and nothing. I checked all the fuses and everything but the only one that was bad was the one for the wipers.

The car should not operate any differently then if the stock KA was installed..minus a couple gauges, maybe power steering. If the old car stayed on with the key out for a minute then thats your problem there is a power on a ground somewheres.
