Whats up! (SR20det, fmic, walbro 225, 3 inch exhaust) ( NEW: Maf, new plugs, new fuel filter!)

Aight, so today while leaving work this problem started!

-1st gear!
Around 10% throttle (very very light acceleration) the entire 240 will start to jerk forwards then backwards VERY VIOLENTLY! ***(around like 3k+ rpms and UP)***

-2nd gear-5th gear!
Around light throttle, at around 3k-4k rpm and up, the engine will RAPIDLY misfire.

*****AT WOT THE PROBLEM DISSIPATES!****** (It builds boost as usual, and at idle my vacuum is at -20 =])

****ALSO, A DECENT SMELL OF UN-BURNT GASOLINE! ****

Could a bad ignition coil cause these symptoms?

Again this problem just started happening today out of the blue, I raced a del sole 2 days ago and the engine ran perfect. (whooped his a** btw =])

First things I would check is the coils. Do am ohm test and also check the boots and make sure that its not arcing in to the head. Also check your tps, and it wouldn't hurt to do a boost leak test at different psi's.

***UPDATE***

-Last night I checked the spark plugs and the white ceramic was MOSTLY black with carbon. (DRY)

-So this means the engines burning too hot? would changing from bk6 to bk7 plugs make a difference or not at all ?!

Also since THIS MORNING/TODAY, the problem is now happening ONLY when at WOT.. the low rpms are fine/normal.

No more jerking in first gear, only RAPID backfire/popping out the exhaust when at WOT. (AROUND 4k and uP in every gear)

Its almost like a bee r rev limiter is hooked up in the car....accept it isn't

Ecu has the knock sensor code (#34), but its been unplugged for months so its not detecting knock. (been fine up until now anyway. ) doubt its due to the sensor

SOOOO IM ABOUT TO BUY IGNITION COILS** But FIRST im just trying to wait and see if any who might think they know the problem or have experienced it before could leave me a helpful tip based on the new update info

Thanks again

I had high rpm misfires kinda like that. Ended up being the mafs was missing a screen (z32) and causing turbulence. Maybe try a cleaner on it? Make sure there isn't like a feather stuck on the hot wire of the maf. As for the coils,.test them before spending money. Be a mechanic, not a part replacer. If you just want to replace the coils, I have a set ohm tested and ready. (only replace them to upgrade to splitfire)

I went JUST got finished with testing the coils and found out my multimeter is broken,, somehow :(

However, I did slowly pull out each coil individually with the engine running and COIL #4 was the only coil which did not make the "click, click, click, click" sound. (Like the others do)

I even switched the #4 coil with the third, second and first and STILL the original #4 coil wouldn't make the click sound, SO this means this particular coil is weaker than the rest.

How much would you sell your coils for shipping included? ( Zip code, 12533) (New york)

****FINAL UPDATE****

NEW IGNITION COILS FIXED THE ENTIRE PROBLEM !!!

ALSO THE CAR IS 2X as quick, breaks loose all through first. WITH 17 inch 255 rear tires!

Compactfean, your the man!!

ALSO, my old ignition coils had somewhat of a yellow tint on plastic cap on the very top, The "new" ones have a clear/white tint

This leads me to believe that coils with a yellow tint are aged and should be replaced for better performance! White tint ftw lol.

pc ~~~!
