Help ....Ran Out of Gas , Engine Revs but doesn't start .....

Well , my car ran out of gas , so I filled up almost 3 gallons . But when I start the engine cranks but doesn't start ... I can hear the fuel running .... I am guessing the fuel pump gone bad , but I can't find it , how to check it ... any help appreciated.

I figure if you can hear the fuel pump then that's not the problem.

I could clearly hear it for first few times , but It didn't start so gave up and tried after an hour ... But Now I cannot hear it .....

Then it could be your fuel pump, probably located in the gas tank, under seat maybe.

Sounds like you could of flooded the engine which makes it harder to start. If you don't hear the fuel pump pressurizing then yea could be your fuel pump or something fuel related.

Running out of gas in a fuel injected car is a big no-no. You've probably fried your pump.

The Car is 1991 make Infiniti G20 , so does it have fuel injection system ??

Yes it does, I definitely would go for the fuel pump first.

Well , this may sound silly but I am not able to remove the rear seat in order to get to the fuel pump.

how to remove the rear seats , i am following the owners manual but still can't really find the hinges to remove rear seat ...

Any help ??

I think there is a bolt on the back of the seat bottom, around the middle.

could have killed the injectors. all the junk that could be at the bottom of your tank going thru the system. damaging and cloging.

I checked the fuel filter , fuel couldn't reach the filter , so Now I am trying to replace the fuel pump .... the local store says it costs $ 108 ....

Well I didn't replace any of the parts , I left the car untouched for a week , but miraculously the car started working today , but the sad thing is it died after a quick run ...

do you think i should go ahead and replace the fuel pump ??
