i took my car to the mechanic today because my oil light was on and i just changed my oil two days ago, so he tells me its my oil pressure switch, also my rack and pinion is leaking. so he starts going on how it will cost like $800 to fix . but my oil pressure switch will be $60. so i tell him to fix the switch first, then i give my friend who works at the shop a call he comes down takes a look and says try some rack and pinion stop leak, he tells me it should work if not i will have to get it fixed. so i go to auto zone and buy some stuff called "lucas" stop leak. they say its the best. brought it back to him he put in and said i should be fine. so my question is has anybody had this problem before and what was your solution. almost forgot i have a 93 j30t with 127k..

2 kinds of stop-leaks. One works to soften seals to make them seal better. The other clogs the leak. I prefer the seal conditioner variety. It's a last resort, so use what you want. Worst case, it doesn't work and you have to replace the rack anyway.

A rebuilt rack is just a used worn rack with new seals.........they never do any replacement of the rack or pinion gear just the simple seals and repaint.............on center wear is never checked.

I'm using Maxlife Stopleak ATF and CD2 Conditioner. Is it okay for the CD2 to be blue? Is that just a dye?
