Welcome to NICO

Go to a state inspection station & see what happens? If you are rejected, you can always then go to an authorized repair/inspection place?

Just put the cats back on.

You'll spend more time and money not doing it, if you get caught.

Put the cats back on. Most inspection sites have a mirror on a pole they use to look under the car. Even if you pass the smog test they will fail you when they notice the cats are GONE!

Depends...in GA they don't look under the car if everything is ok and it passes. But NJ may be different. I would try it, and if you don't pass throw on the CATS.

I seriously doubt that your car will come close to passing the emission (sniffer) test without the cats on the car.

And bringing an known illegal car in for an emission test is like asking the cop that just stopped you to hold your beer while you get your license for him.

They usually don't sniff newer cars....just hook up a computer.

I'm not sure what the laws are in NJ, but here in Cali, if the inspection station reports a fail to the state, you are flagged as a gross polluter, and have to have your car inspected yearly thereafter.

Here in Cali, they make you have new parts put on by an approved mechanic. No re-installing the original parts, and no DIY.

Not worth it in my opinion. Oh and could you stop polluting our air too please. One of the performance Magazines recently did a test on a civic SI with OEM cats, high-flow cats, and test pipes. The difference between the high-flow and the test pipes was 1hp

I 1hp worth polluting our air and running the risk of getting a severe fine?
