In the past two weeks I have noticed car vibrating when I speed up. When I get to desired to speed, it stops. Yesterday the car would not go past 40 mph and I decided to turn off the main road. When turning, the car died. The car immediately started back up again. It seems when I get to the 40 mph range is when the vibration really starts. I thought at first maybe I needed a tire rotation. Any ideas? I appreicate any help I can get before I take it somewhere.

Signed,Damsel in Distress

The vibrations sound like a bad injector(s) but not going past 40MPH doesn't really follow with that. Maybe a bad fuel pump or failing controller?

It's possible you have two problems.

The vibration - is it worst at 25mph and 45 mph? There's a transmission mount that fails and causes a strong shaking vibration at 2250rpm. That's roughly 25mph, 45mph, and 70mph. It's worse when accelerating. May cost $200 or so to fix. If that's the problem, you should also have the exhaust hangers replaced when they do the transmission mount

A bad MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor) connector or failing MAF can cause bucking and jerking and sudden stalling. The connector and/or MAF can easily be cleaned at little cost. Here's a writeup about it:

But the first thing you should probably do is have a fuel pressure test done. The Q45 fuel pump doesn't usually last much past 120,000 miles. Listen to the trunk when the car is running. If you hear a loud buzzing sound like a nest of bees, then you need a new fuel pump. That's kinda spendy - $500 or so.

Fuel pump more like $250 or less from IOS. Perhaps you were adding labor in.

Yeah, I figured Damsel in Distress wouldn't be doing her own work.

I know I know, I'm a sexist.

what year is the Q? Early Qs tend to be real finicky about trans fluid level and can cause stalling when coming to a stop. the vibration sounds like a torque converter proble so i would be checking the tans fluid level first.
