HELP!!!...putting together bottom end

so, I'm hand tightening down the main caps, and the became tight way before the touched the caps, so I thought I'd torque them to see if they tightened down. Well, that didn't work, it still had a gap even when I torqued them to 40lbs. what is going on?(I've got BAD Paint skillz)



and an image of the numbered cap in orientation to the filter houseing



so, what I'm thinking is I put all the caps on backwards, I have the #'s on them facing the oil filter side, is this wrong? if I need to switch them, does that mean the #'s on the rod caps need to face the oppisite side also? I'm confused.

damn, I'm an idiot, I forgot to but on the main bearing beam....please delete this thread so I only get laughed at a little

Dude, where in the hell is your crank girdle or is that what you called a main bearing beam? That will definitely cause the condition in the photograph. Take your time with your stuff or your project will be another "For sale" victim on this forum.

yeah, I'm an idiot, and ended up damaging the first couple of theards on each bolt , I was able to run a die on them, and now it's together properly.

yea yea crank girdles are pretty key.

take pictures before tearing down if your unsure about remembering.
