Ok, I don't really know what is wrong with my car, but I am going through rear tires like crazy... every 5000 miles. I have a completely stock 96' 240sx SE (both wheels do spin... not just the right one). I recently bought a set of tires 2 months ago and the rear 2 are already half way down on tread. I have never peeled out on these tires, and have only peeled out in the car twice when I first got it. Anyways, there is no uneven tread wear. They are wearing completely even across each tire (no inside or outside wear)... and they are wearing evenly on both tires. I have used 3 different types of tires... including: Yokohama avid V4, Fulda crap tires, and Kumho (HP4's?? not ecsta supras or ecsta 711's, these are their H rated touring tires) and have had the same problem with all 3 brands. Anyways, the front tires are perfect and look brand new.

I am sliding around like crazy in the rain and it is nerve racking!!! I have no clue what the problem could be. The car was hit in the rear before I bought it, but repaired. And it drives straight as a string... I can let the wheel go and it will stay perfectly straight!!! I originally thought that it may have been a suspension or alignment problem, but it drives straight and there is no uneven tread wear! Does anyone have ANY clue what could be wrong???? I can't afford to keep buying tires for this thing!

Hey man maybe that wreck affected the toe settings of your rear suspension. I'm not sure though cuz I'm

have you had an alignment?? sometimes you cant tell its off by normal driving. go get it checked out, i guarantee its your problem. especially if it was in a wreck.

my guess is that it will be your toe settings, that tends to eat thru tires morso than camber caster and what not.

what direction is the toe adjustment again? I know that the camber is / \ ..... or .......\ / , but that would make the tires wear on the insides or the outsides.... but like I said, it is wearing on evenly across each tire, which makes me think that it has to be something else. So I read someone suggests an alignment? Could that possible effect the rear tires? I will take it in to get the Toe adjusted, if that will help..... my mechanic explained to me all the 9 different types of adjusting the wheel positions, but I have forgotten what direction he explained the Toe to be.

make sure you get a 4 wheel alignment. Most of the time they do not do a 4 wheel unless you request it.

Toe is when the tires front of the tires go inside or outside ...like / \ or \ / but from a top view. I think if you have too much either neg. or pos. toe it could wear the tires pretty good. Also make sure your suspension geometry is straight and not bent or anything.
