So picked up a 08 m35x from a dealer the other day ... Car is mint, runs, drives great.

my cousin works at the dealer and hooked me up with the car.

It has sort of a weird smell... my dad and I think it is like some type of s*** quality cleaner they use in the car at the dealer.

I also noticed that when I picked the car up the inside was foggy (it was pouring out and I am assuming teh car was in the shop before hand)

Defroster on and everything clears everything up

WaKe up this morning and all 3 of my family cars outside have condensation on them (morning dew) it was sunny but 35ish

also the car was maybe sitting at the dealer closed up for a month or a little under I'd say based on when he said it was traded in.

start the car put on the defrosters it defrosts , but there is one spot about 4-5" inside by the bottom corner of the windshield on the passenger side where there is condensation that didn't go away. Wipe it with a paper towel after washing the car and its gone. drive around and stuff heat on windows cracked etc in the 50s. park at my aunts. go inside for 6 hrs come out and car has some condensation dew on the windows (its now 35ish again ) defrost rear it clears up after a couple , front isnt too bad just that one spot put defrost on and it breaks up the inside condensation spot but still water droplets there.

felt the entire interior of the car and pillars and such and there is no wetness dampness anywhere just that one spot.

is it the hot air blowing from the defroster ducts + the cold air outside the car?

Im freaking out because I am anal about my cars and stress stuff way too much.

I am paranoid there is a leak or something or that it was flooded by the previous owner even though clean carfax, dealer inspected, body shop inspected, and my cousin and I inspected it before purchase...

appreciate any feedback !

bump:

Think I figured it out , the vent was closed on the passenger side thus causing more condensation on that side than the other..

Check and see if the floorboard is wet. My car is doing this on the driver side and I think it may have done it last year. It has done it twice this year and both times the driver floorboard was wet under the mat and the passenger side was dry. I thin

It has done it twice this year and both times the driver floorboard was wet under the mat and the passenger side was dry. It would start with just the fog, then smell like must/mildew after a couple days. Both times I would use a paper towel to clean up the moisture on the windshield and leave the paper towel in the car knowing I'd need it just about every time I got in the car. I was thinking maybe it's something from the A/C that isn't draining properly, as I've read other posts about that, but I haven't had time to search yet.

Yeah, I think you're right. This car was probably flooded during hurricane Katrina. I'd ckeck in the glove box for any sardines.

well since i opened the vent it hasn't done it, the whole car was foggy when my gf put it on acc, instead of starting the car cause she didn't know that she had to step on the brake, so it seems the car is fog sensitive , (it was all foggy when she had acc on with the fan on and as soon as starting the car and the compressor kicked on it cleared up)
