My power steering fluid level in my 93 240 recently dropped off drasticly, so i looked around and found a leak in the lower hose(the pressure one), bought the replacement, and went about removing the leaky hose. I got the part that bolts into the pump off no problem, but at the bottom, there is a plastic sensor looking thing that screws into one part of the bracket, and the metal line that screws into the other side of the bracket. when tryin to twist off the plastic sensor, (it is not a hex, more like a rectangle), my pliers slipped and severed one of the wires at the base of the sensor. I would like to know what this plastic sensor is for, and whether i should just replace that part of the harness or omit it in the new installation. Also, i cannot remove the metal line from the bracket. It is torqued down extremely tight. Any tips for getting it off?.

Sorry about the long poorly written post...any help would be appreciated. thanks

from common-sense guessing...

if that sensor sees an increase in pressure, it would send a signal to the ECU & in turn would increase the idle a bit to compensate for the load on the belt/pulley

i have no clue what it is. however, just get a wire splicer and mate them back together and wrap in electrical tape....simple as. to find out what the sensor is consult the FSM

You dont need it,It does just what ricebike said it does,I dont have mine plugged in and the power steering feels the same,So you dont have to worry about it,Not a big deal at all.
