Ok so I have been planning this project for the longest time and after over 2 years of research and collecting parts I have eveything I need to put it all together but I have run into a problem. I have a rebuilt z31 T3 turbo and the hot side is touching my brake cylinder. Its barely touching it but its still touching. The turbo sits atop a top mount real nissan turbo manifold. Also I dont there is any way my downpipe can fit in there either withing running into the brake lines. I know other people have used this turbo before so a little help plz.

You could grind a little bit off of you BMC to make it clear and your down pipe will need to be custom to clear everything. IS it possible to flip that manifold and make it bottom mount?

Thanks for the reply. How much of the MBC can I grind off? Im not worried about doing it but I dont want to ruin it or cause a decrease in the ability of the braking system. As far as flipping it goes im not too sure. I would have to wait until I get home and check it out but just off the top of my head I wouldnt think so. Im pretty sure the manifold follows the stock stud pattern (the studs up top sit closer together than the ones on the bottom so I dont think I can flip but I will try it when I get home after work. Yeah I figured that I would have to get a custom downpipe made which sucks cuz I already I have one with the 7 bolt nissan flange on it. Oh well I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and get it made. Thanks for the help lemhead. If anyone else has any helpful adivce im all ears.

You may be able to use that down pipe by cutting off the flange and repositioning the pipe.

you will be burning your brake fluid; you dont want to see flame!

manifold need to be modified; either weld on a spacer, r cut off the flange and reweld.

Whether its touching or not isnt the real issue here, imo.

whether its physically touching or a fraction of an inch from touching, the heat difference is negligable.

But, vibration could be the main issue from them physically touching. Meaning that you could physically damage your BMC.

Maybe you should think about painting/baking your turbine housing, and get a good turbo blanket, and some heat wrap for the MBC, and downpipe.

Another option is offsetting the Motor mounts someone on here has MMs made out of hockey pucks. They used three on the drivers side and 2 on the pass. side so that it moved the engine (tilted) to the passenger side thus creating more room for turbo/downpipe.

? You'd have to find the person who did it and ask him.

a friend of mine has his turbine that close to the brake clylinder; it melted the brake fluid resovoir and started a fire.

IMO easiest way is to take off the manifold and cut the flange and reweld it to fit properly. sorry, that's a poorly made manifold.

play safe boys!

it's on my car as we type. and it works. my reason for doing it is because it would mount the turbo where the a/c comp. is. and i'm not about to get rid of my a/c.
