ok Im no nistech but i just finished this swap a week ago and found out a bit. You will need the wiring harness from the de and the ecu. also it will be a lot easier if they were 91-94 as they are more similar to the 89 90. Ive hear its possible to swap 95 and up but much harder, do to they are obd1 and obd2 no idea what that is really just more differences to deal with. I swapped a 91 into my 89. eveything wired in perfectly eccept the exhaust gas tep sensor which I left unpluged. also my harnes was cut going to the maf sensor and the other sensor near the air intake. so I used the connectors off my sohc harness all the wires matched up fine. you will need a knew ps pump and lines as they are now going to need to be on the drivers side. I used new resivoir lines (the ones that ran accross the chassie) but the high pressure line that went to the pump itself was cut at the junk yard. so I unbolted the one off the sohc and bent it to work and spliced an extension to run the chassie harness connector to the connector on the line. you will also need a new tach from the same year motor. the harness from the ecu to the dash will need to be spliced because it wont plug in. on my 91 harness most of the wires matched eccept a grn/blk and a grn/ y or grn white and I had four or five wires from the dash left over. I was told they didnt matter but if you can find a good diagram i wouldnt mind taking a look so let me know. also a distributer and coil will be needed if you dont get them with your engine. If you are wanting ac you will either need to get the ac radiator or you will need custom lines. I just paid 68 dollars for my lines and it was a pain in the *** to find someone who could do it. if I think of anything all let you know. the only problem w mine so far is that my engine is running way to rich to pass smog.. good luck Ian

thanks man, the motor is coming fro a guy i know and i beleive it is like 90-91. its in his car now and running- he's going sr. So basically i need to take all of his wires like everything? and they will just plug into the ones on my car? with or without splicing? about the ps pump which i might just negat and run a shorter belt but the location it is now has to be moved? where do i mount it? and the tach and speedo wont work at all? no way to wire it? thanks for all the info you've given me so far man i appreciate it alot this is my first swap ive put motors in befor but the exact same ones. If anyone can supply wiring diagrams or links that work id appreciate it alot and thanks again Ian , mark

If its a 90 motor it will be a sohc so you wouldnt need any thing but the motor. But if it is a 91 92 93 94 you will need all the wiring from the ecu to the motor every thing will plug right in accept the exhaust gas temp. sensor wich is located where your iaa valve will be on the new motor (lower right rear of the eccs intake on your motor you have now). you might need to splice the maf sensor connector and the othe sensor located in your air filter box Im not sure if there the same , my harness didnt have them but the wires are all colored the same. you will NOT need a new speedo you WILL need a knew tach. your ps resivoir will be put in the same place jsut the drivers side strut tower. If you look there are holes right where it needs to go. you will have to bend the mounting braket from the ps res. but its easy to make it work. If you can get the hole mounting for the new coil with it. Ithink that part of the ps res will bolt up to that which gives you room for aiv and the coil. i might be abel to send you som picks of before and after if you want all let you know.
