Just about a year ago, I was communicating with Joe Waldal (seymore4) and I found the ECU part number off the UpRev website database spreadsheet (btw $350 ain't too bad to get your car dialed in right, lots of guys have used Joe and are completely satisfied):
here's my email thread with him regarding e-tuning my 2013 M37 Sport:

There are many different ECU part #'s, even for the same exact year/make/model. If you have a different ECU part # then your car is running on different software, and even if a similar car with similar stuff has a different ECU part #, you can't share. That's just how it is.
The rom support matrix is not updated regularly, use the link I sent you.
If you never reflashed the M45 then you don't need to reflash it back to stock. The license is still on the cable.
I can definitely hook you up with tuning, but its going to cost you $350. $150 etuning fee plus $200 custom rom patch fee.

Joe,
could you send me the ROM file? the ECU part # is 23710-EH010
I never flashed my car's ECU with any tune, I just hooked up the cipher to look at some data. ECU Do I still need to flash my old car back to stock with the ROM file to get the license loaded back onto the cable?
It doesn't look like the 2013 M37 Sport non-AWD, with Tech/Journey package is supported, ECU 23710-1PR3A. Its funny, when I went to UpRev's website you can download the ROM support matrix,: the 2012 M37 Sport is supported: 1MV1D, 1MV1C and the 2013 M37 non sport is supported 1PR2B, 1PR2A.
Does this basically mean that not enough folks with a 2013 M37 Sport non-AWD, with Tech/Journey have UpRev'd for them to have developed tunes for this particular model?
Can you hook me up with tuning my new car?
sorry for so many questions - I am trying to educate myself, just have to do more reading

Good to hear from you. I would absolutely recommend reflashing the M45 back to stock, if you don't you will lose the tune license, and that alone is worth $300. All you need is the corresponding "back to stock" rom file to reflash and the license will be loaded back onto the cable. You can download that directly through the rom editor, or just email me the ECU part # and I will send it to you.
You can use it on the M37, cipher should work just fine for diagnostics but you will need to check if the ECU part # is supported or not with Uprev before you can reflash it:

The M's are considered "non core vehicles" so if its not supported there is a $200 fee to add support.

Hey Joe,
I am emailing you because I know you aren't regularly on the forums.
I emailed you a while back about buying a tuner version of the UpRev cable for my 2006 M45 - which I ended up getting.
Well, I was rear ended and the M45 is toast - bad news.
Good news is I bought a 2013 M37.
Can I use the cable for the M45 for the M37?
I only used the cable to try some data logging.
Do I need to unmarry the license for my old car (the M45) before I can use it on the M37?
And if so, is there an easy way to unmarry it?
I read the Osiris and Cipher manual and I don't remember seeing how to put the license back on the cable.
If there is an easy DIY guide, I sure would appreciate it.
thanks,
Craig
