Can anyone tell me what these are underneath the hex bolts?? I have been to every auto parts store and no one knows.
This is one of the lower intake bolts on a '96 Pathfinder 3.3L

They look like rubber rings to provide an seal when used with a shoulder bolt. Just guessing since I've never been into that engine, but I've seen similar applications before. That way the seal doesn't get overcompressed and fail early.
