So I just had a viper remote start/security system installed on my 03 z. Someone warned me not to get the remote start with nissan cars because it ruins the motor. Well today I was driving and as im accelerating the engine just shuts off in the middle of a busy road and my service engine, slip, tcs off, oil, and brake lights all go on. So i try to turn off the car and start it again and the engine just turns over and over! Autozone ran a test on it and determined that one of the cam shaft sensors needed to be replaced. Anyone have any advice or help on what happened or things to do??

ThanksLauren

so maybe it's the cam angle sensor........

installing remote start should have no ill effects on any car, and anyone that wouls suggest an electronic start on a particulr brand (or any brand for that matter) clearly has no idea what they are talking about, unless it's installed incorrectly the remote start shoudl have no effect on how anyting ont he car works

so why would you even considder blaming the remote start when you have a code that tells you that you have a bad sensor?

Just found it strange that this problem started a week after the viper system was put in when it had never happened before.

if the problem started right after then you might wonder, 6 days, might have well been a year, clearly not connected

if you eat shellfish for lunch, and get sick a week later, it wasn't the shellfish

Does that system have a kill switch. for example a tiny little toggle switch that you can flip to disarm any type of ignition. friend of mine accidentally flipped his with his foot. damn car wouldn't start and all of the dash lights were freaking out. take a look in your foot well. my system has a push button for switching to valet mode and a toggle for inhibiting the remote start. good luck

I'm gonna go with anthony on this one. Determine if the system does in fact have a kill switch. From the sound of it, you might have somehow toggled the kill switch either from the keyfob or an external switch with your foot or something. You had mentioned that all the lights went on...that's exactly how the gauge cluster looks like when your key is in the "on" position right before starting the car.
