ok I know alot of this might sound quite stupid but I am a girl, I have been into the body aspect of cars for awhile, I know how to change the oil but anymore into the mechanical part...well im not that educated, but I know when I am getting screwed over. Ok to begin with my car overheated in a drive through about 3 weeks ago..bought coolant put it in..ran fine for about a week then started running well not hot but warm(used to cruise at the mid-line on gauge now rides half between mid-and hot) kept adding more water (didnt keep adding extra coolant cause if it was leaking you know I have a dog lol) never took more than half a liter to fill it back up but kept riding "warm" took it to a POS repair shop in my little home town(they are kin to my stepdad only reason it goes there) they have the car for two days say its the water pump, replace that next night pick the car up around 10 and head home about 10 miles down the road its running warm again well its pouring rain and im in the middle of nowhere so I just say ok its not hot so I can make it home well then another 5 miles down the road it sounds like I have a FLAT tire in pass. front and the car is overheating all the way at hot so I stop look no flat tire..pop the hood sit there in the rain a few then turn the car back on says its back warm again so i go the 5 more miles home with the hood pop'd (yeah not smart but that late at night I didnt wanna be on the side of the road) and that sounds keeps on and off till I get home. Wellll the next morning my stepdad drives it back to town says the sound is the brakes and says it didnt overheat with him(prolly bull.... )and just to throw another question into this I just had my brakes and a roter changed about 4 or 5 months ago..They shouldnt be bad yet right?? well now this POS shop is changing my brakes again saying there is nothing wrong with the engine when I know dang well there is I just dont know what...dont know if this will help or not but someone said it might...The front glass fogs when it starts to overheat...I have noticed some kind of clicking/boiling noises under the hood even before it overheats...and I can smell the coolant inside the car when it overheats.. I am lost but I know this shop is messin with my junk and prolly causing more problems can anyone help me out here?? Please!!!!!

it sounds to me like you have a leak..if you have to keep adding coolant/water and you smell it then it sounds like a leak. is your car running fine as far as performance wise other than the overheating? idle fine and drive fine?

It doesnt really have anything added performance wise..I dont know if this is normal or not prolly is but after it gets hot when I take off the oil cap on the top of the engine smoke comes out???? and another stupid **s question but when you take off that cap are you supposed to be able to see the oil in the engine?? dang im like a preschooler on this lol sorry guys but thanks for all the help but other than those yeah it runs fine but Im not having to add enough water/coolant to it to really seem like a leak could be the problem like I said half liter normally to fill it up on a day-day and a half basis.
