This past weeked me and my dad were able to install my springs and it came out looking very nice. but when i took it out for a drive i started to hear a *gunk gunk* noises along with *cunk cunk* etc. from the front passenger side. we looked at it and we are sure we tighten every bolts... anyone have a theory to what could be causing this noise? my dad is a mechanic and he still isn't sure whats causing the problem...

sounds like it could be a mixture of things. I would look at the passenger side, inch for inch, and make sure its exactly like the driver side

All the more reason why I gave it to someone else to install Hope you find what's wrong before other parts get messed up.

That's why I'm also giving it to a mechanic so if they screw it up they have to fix it.

I gave mine to a local shop where I have had a lot of work done and had the same problem but on the drivers side. Coming back from the shop I hit a small pothole and there was a loud thump, and then any uneven-ness in the road causes a rattling like the strut was loose. I returned it to the shop and they called and said they couldn't find anything and asked if they could talk me into a new set of struts on the front because the OE's were really weak. I told him to look around and call me back with what it would cost. A few minutes later he called back and said they were done and would bring it by for a test drive. Test drove it and the noise was gone... I asked what they did and was told nothing, just re-tightened everything. I suspect they found something and corrected it but didn't want to tell me.

I just love suspension noise! its like hide and seek!!!!

I would go through the whole thing with a torque wrench and make sure everything is tightened... all 4 corners.... I would also check to make sure the sway bar is nice and tight too along with the endlinks.

When you put aftermarket parts on sometimes they just need time to settle and if you jacked one side up at a time sometimes it loads the suspension (struts..sway bars ext) and they make noises after that for a bit...

White Lithium grease on the struts will help too

Take a look at the Strut Master Bolt, and the three strut mount bolts. Generally these cause the most problem because the Master Bolts tend to be hard to tighten and the others are low torque bolts. BTW you should have approximately 3/8 inches of thread above the Strut Master Bolt, if you have less, you need to tighten.

After that check the control arm attaching the strut to the front sway bar.

If these don't work it's mechanic time.

my car is getting dropped off at the shop tomorrow, haven't been driving it much lately. I noticed that when going over like a dip on the street at like 40+ mph, the car would seem to dip as if i was going to slam. I might have suspensions issues from the accident. We'll find out when it's fixed

thanks for the advice i will be taking it apart in the morning, after driving today i think the noise sound like its coming from the sway bar... but i will re-check everything. all the other wheels seems fine. how much torque should i put?
