HELP PLEASE!!! INFORMATION NEEDED!!!

A few months ago I bought at Ebay a timing chain kit from a seller (not OEM kit). A couple of weeks ago I sent the car for service to the Nissan dealer and requested the change of the timing kit. For my bad luck, the 2 cam sprockets broke down and severe damaged the cylinder head (LESSON: ALWAYS BUY OEM ENGINE PARTS).

Due to that reason, I am in the need to do a major reparation and for costs purposes, it is cheaper for me to entirely replace the engine than to repair the actual one...

My Altima is a 94, all Altimas from 93 to 97 have the same engine, a KA24DE 2.4 L 16 Valve DOHC engine. Then my question is: Can I put another's car year engine in my car? Specifically, can I put a 97 engine in my car? Will I have not to do major modifications due to computer signals, mounts, connectors or other things?

I will appreciate a lot your help with this matter, I am in serious situation and need your advise.

Thanks.

all altimas up to 2001 have the same engine. its just the accessories on the engine are different. my suggession is to get a 2k-2k1 motor and swap into your 94. I currently have a 2k motor in my 93. you can find these motors for under $400 and with very low milage(mine had 15k)

you must use your 94 intake and exhaust manifolds swap over pullies, the oil filter will be different but that's not a problem just remember to buy 2k-2k1 parts. go here http://www.nissanclub.com/forums they are mant members there besides me who have done this swap and are willing to help.
