Hey everyone,

I can't seem to get a break with this car..every time I fix one thing something else comes up but i guess thats the name of the game. Anyways, I have a fresh fully built 96 KA with a journal 6262 and everytime I hit boost the car is putting out smoke. Ran a compression test and motor is perfect. Also, the fact that its only smoking when I am hitting boost is leading me to think its just an oil supply issue. Precision rebuilt the turbo before I put it on the car so it is brand new as well. I called Precision and they told me that under no circumstance should I need a restrictor jsut a -4AN feed line even though I told them that KA's have unusually high oil pressure around (100psi). Despite what they told me i drilled out a restrictor (after reading on this forum that it worked for someone) to 7/64 and tried that and it still is doing it. The tune is fresh and Air/Fuel's are good across the board. I can get into boost all i want but I am left with a 2 minute trail of smoke after any time i see over around 3 pounds. Did Precision do a bad rebuild? Has anyone heard of anyone experience similar problems? Really could use some help. Thanks guys.

could be a seal issue? send it back to precision and tell them you want them to look at and you want it done for that magic word free because it should not be smoking after the rebuild under boost..

sounds like the seals in the turbo might be leaking... remove your intake and inspect for oil and if it it really oily u have a compressor side leaking and if there it oil buildup in the exhaust thats a dead giveaway as well..

I'm surprised no one has asked you to identify the color of the smoke. If blue, it's probably oil. If black, you need to tune because it's running rich (I know you said you have good AFR, but those sensors can go to crap after a while so they aren't always to be trusted).

If you have a bad turbo that Precision rebuilt, make a video of the smoke so you can attempt an exchange or refund. :)

Its definitely oil getting in there as the smoke is not black. and I just replaced my UEGO as well. I think I am gonna pull it this weekend and get to the bottom of this. thanks for all the advice

Send the turbo back in exchange for a new one. Don't waste your time fixing their mistakes. :)

While waiting, pull the spark plugs to make sure they haven't fouled. Also check your intake tubing and intercooler for any oil residue.
