help please '98 ka into a '91 will it work ?

yes i have searched and no i have not found anything on swapping a '98 ka into a '91 s13, will it work ? what has to be switched ? will my '91 distributor work with the single row cam gear ? are TB's the same ? i have a guy local with one for sale for a really good price, just need to know if it is swappable, -Mike

Yes, but you will need to swap the intakes (use the 91 intake) because it has all the vacuum lines, emission parts and throttle body that is needed to hook up to the original wiring harness in your car.

i dont know who said it will work but there is a lot of trouble with doing it. first they switched ecu in 95 from obd1 to obd2. that is an issue. second you will have about three sensors that wont hook up propperly. need to change the whole wiring harness to do it succesfully.

Switch intake and exhaust manifolds. That will take care of the OBD stuff, and all the harness plugs will be used. The 98 transmission has a crank angle sensor which won't be hooked up. I just did a 95 KA swap into my 92, so it really isn't alot of trouble. You do not need to change the wiring harness. 1fastka is not speaking from experience. I am not entirely sure if the distributor will work with the single row cam gear though. that might be a little tricky.

edit: I am looking at the FSM, and it seems like the distributor would work no problem. The idler pulley looks to be the same in both motors.

Swap dizzy's and swap your coolant sensor.
